About me

by Jurgen Van de Perre

Hi and welcome to my personal blog. It has been some time since I had a blog, but I decided to dedicate some more time to keep it up-to-date and get some content on it. Most of the content will be some self-documentation, things I experienced at my job and of course about my homelab and hobbies.

I have been working as a consultant for almost all my professsional career, but in 2017 I made the decision to become self-employed. The main reason was that I live in the east of Belgium and my commute was often 2-3 hours per day. Also, this would give me the chance to choose my own clients, work more from home, and most of all keep a better work-life balance.

In the meantime, I have over 20 years of experience in IT infrastructure, architecture, consultancy and delivering training courses. My primary focus is virtualization, cloud and automation, so those are the things you will find in this blog.

Also, I hold a number of certifications, including:

  • I am a vExpert for 7 years already (https://vexpert.vmware.com/directory/84).
  • VMware Certified Professional – DCV
  • VMware Certified Professional – NV
  • Participating in the VMware Beta Tester program for over 5 years.
  • VEEAM VMCE

I am also doing some automation with Chef, Puppet, PowerShell, Ansible and Python.

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.

LOVE WHAT YOU DO. DO WHAT YOU LOVE

When I am not working, I am a sim racer (iRacing, rFactor, ACC), play with arduino and build and fly drones. These are all things I try to do with as much passion as my day job.
